A staged project keeps the work funded, drivable, and aligned with how the vehicle is actually used. The right sequence avoids paying for the same labor twice.
A typical phase order
- Suspension and tires together — they decide everything else
- Sliders, skid plates, recovery points
- Alignment, regearing if needed, post-install corrections
- Lighting and electrical for overland use
- Storage, sleep, and overland gear
- Bumpers, winches, and heavier armor
We see the most rework when armor goes on before suspension is finalized. Springs that worked with stock weight don't always work with 200 lbs of steel on the front.
Budget realistically per phase
Each phase has labor, parts, and supporting work (alignment, regearing, lines, brackets). A useful rule: budget 20-30% above the parts list to cover the supporting work that makes the install correct.
Lift Kits & Suspension
Planned around fitment, ride quality, tire goals, and real 4x4 use.
